Lunar Hair Care - What is it and why do I practice it?

This week I had my hair trimmed, a rare occurrence for me, since I believe our hair should be left to grow to its fullest length. By interrupting the hair growth and cutting it off, we lose part of our power, a vital source of our energy. If you have read my book, you will know my thoughts around the spiritual importance of hair…

“After yet another fascinating session with my Magical Metaphysical Man, we covered the topic of the consciousness of hair. This blew my mind. I had always allowed my hair to grow to its fullest length; the longer the better, I felt. But I was unaware that hair served some kind of spiritual importance. I was surprised to find that hair consists of the most vital sources of energy for a human. According to the yogic tradition, hair is a wonderful gift of nature that helps to raise the spinal Kundalini energy. In India, the "Rishi knot", where the hair is coiled up on the crown of the head during the day, is said to activate the magnetic field or Auric field and stimulates the pineal gland at the centre of the brain. I then went on to discover how in ancient history hair was cut forcefully, as a symbol of slavery. This was because conquerors understood that the prana would be decreased by doing so, and the slaves would be easier to control.”

The last time I cut my hair must have been around 6/7 months ago. I now practice intuitive Lunar hair care, but what does that even mean?

I follow my intuition and ‘know’ when I need to trim my hair to keep it looking neat. I also use the power of the Lunar cycles to figure out when is the right time to have my hair cut.

What is Lunar Hair Care?

For centuries, humans have followed the moon’s cycles to determine when to plant and harvest crops; planting during a particular lunar cycle determines what the crop will yield, and often how much it will yield.

This same practice can be applied to your hair. It’s called Lunar Hair Care.

“Hair is an extension of the nervous system, it can be correctly seen as exteriorized nerves, a type of highly evolved ‘feelers’ or ‘antennae’ that transmit vast amounts of important information to the brain stem, the limbic system, and the neocortex.

Not only does hair in people, including facial hair in men, provide an information highway reaching the brain, hair also emits energy, the electromagnetic energy emitted by the brain into the outer environment. This has been seen in Kirlian photography when a person is photographed with long hair and then rephotographed after the hair is cut.

When hair is cut, receiving and sending transmissions to and from the environment are greatly hampered. This results in numbing-out.” Source: The Hair Shaman

I have personally always been allowed and enjoyed letting my hair grow, the one time I did have to cut my hair off about 10 years ago due to a colouring mishap, I felt so lost. My power had been taken from me, I had lost my vital source of energy. When I began to understand the power of our hair and the receptors that we have in our hair, I finally understood my own experience and why I felt so lost.

Lunar hair care is such a simple practice to follow, all it takes is a little understanding of the concept and then scheduling your hair cuts on the correct date.
